Savoy Productions is excited to announce the arrival of the fourth and newest recording from Seacoast New Hampshire’s musician/songwriter Dave Gerard entitled, The Zoomy Trail. Infused with emotion, unforgettable melodies, and high-quality songwriting, this is Dave’s strongest and most personal collection of songs to date. The album has a rootsy, and contemporary sound, due to both the musicians and instruments selected to flesh out the compositions, and the vibey sounds and engineering (Chris Magruder) of Thundering Sky Studio where the album was recorded in S. Berwick, ME.
Is it acoustic, is it electric? A question often asked. It’s a little bit of everything Dave does from solo intimate performances to full band ensembles. Most of the songs were approached live during basic tracks with acoustic guitar, voice and bass (David Bailey), and then built upon utilizing the studio environment. Helping Dave to add color and texture to The Zoomy Trail. is a great list of New England Seacoast Region musicians including Gerard’s band mates in Truffle, Joe Rillo, Chris Elliott, Pete and Yamica Peterson, Conor O’Brien, Tom Yoder, Dave’s touring drummer from Virginia, Kent Raine, touring harp player in Colorado, Daniel “Moose” Bednarski, and even his wife Maria.
From rootsy, soulful arrangements to some interesting industrial sounds, it’s the way Dave Gerard hears music. There is a theme on this album of returning to a more human level; the art work and packaging reflects that. Printed on a letter press from the 1930’s, artists Steve Bowden and David Wolfe have found a perfect marriage for the music with this cover. Take a walk along the Zoomy Trail and enjoy.

Dave Gerard’s debut solo album. Recorded in the barn atmosphere of Meadowlark studio in the winter of 1996. The feeling of a New England winter comes out in this collection of music. A nice vibe runs throughout the CD with mostly acoustic performances of very romantic music. Fellow Truffle members and various Seacoast musicians lend a hand. Highlights include: “Out Of Touch” (duet with Kristen Mueller), “In The Dark”, “Wrong Side Dream”, and a fine trumpet performance by bassist David Bailey on the title cut.

“It feels like Gerard’s plugged into some kind of universal rhythm. Listening to Memory Hill gives one the distinct feeling that one is alive and that anything is possible” ~ Face Magazine
